Our men’s soccer program has really benefited from working with Anna, she is a first-rate massage therapist who understands competitive athletes and their needs. Several of our players have had very positive experiences and personally seen the improvements that can be made by consistent exposure to massage treatments. As advances in sports training are made, there is no doubt that massage will play an increasingly integral role in the effective development of athletes. I would strongly recommend Anna and bodyKinesis!

Ironman triathlons are tough; I train three to five hours a day five days a week. While it seems like this should be enough, in reality a proper rest and recovery program is equally important to my success. Massage therapy is a critical component of my weekly rest and recovery regiment. Anna has been instrumental in my training program–our weekly sessions have been a key part of optimizing recovery and keeping me healthy through a heavy training load.

Anna’s massage technique is awesome! At its heart, it is really a combination of physical therapy and massage. As a result, you not only feel better after a session with Anna, you are better—it helps you heal. Anna’s knowledge of anatomy and physiology is complete, and her ability to determine the root cause of people’s issues is impressive.

I have gone to Anna for treatment during training for my past three marathons. Her work has made a noticeable difference in both my training and recovery. I was nervous going into this year’s Boston Marathon because I had not been able to fit in any massage. As a result, my IT bands were causing severe knee pain. I drove up to NH where Anna fit me in for a last minute lower body massage and it made a huge difference. I went from wondering if I would even be able to finish the race, to producing a personal best.

If you are looking for excellence in massage therapy and bodywork, look no further than Anna Jorgensen-Terry and BodyKinesis. Anna’s professional manner, knowledge of the human body, thoughtful attitude and skilled technique set the standard in massage therapy. As an avid outdoor enthusiast and former competitive kayaker herself, Anna brings a foundation of sports medicine and functional recovery to her practice. I had the good fortune to benefit from this background when Anna served as the massage therapist for the US National Canoe/Kayak Team during our World Cup and World Championship competitions. Since retiring from competition, I have used Anna’s massage for help with stress reduction and overall wellness and have recommended her to family and friends in the Upper Valley without reservation.

A lifetime of baseball, golf, bowling, softball, you name it, had left me sore from the second I woke up to moment I fell asleep. It had gotten so bad that I couldn’t close my hand, tie my shoes, catch a ball… you get the picture. My doctors told me I had arthritis, and that I was going to simply have to get used to the pain and immobility. When it got to the point that I could no longer hold a golf club, and it looked like I was going to have to give up what had become my favorite activity, I started seeking alternatives. That is when I found Anna. All I need to say is that I can now close my hand, tie my shoes, catch a ball, and most importantly, play as much golf as I desire. Anna has helped make getting old something that will be happening later for me, not today.

Anyone who has spent the better part of his/her life pursuing an individual sport will tell you that overuse injuries are a part of the game. If you repeat something enough times in the hopes of attaining the highest levels of refinement, there will be consequences. In my case, I suffered chronic numbness in the pinky and ring fingers of my left hand resulting from time spent training for, and competing in a variety of whitewater kayaking disciplines. This was exacerbated every time I would boat, which I was doing daily. After suffering through it for a few months, I decided to give massage therapy a try. This was my first experience with massage, so I was a bit skeptical. After one short session Anna had diagnosed the problem and come up with what, in my mind, was an unlikely fix. Shows what I know—after that first session the numbness went away and I regained full use of the fingers.

Like many of us today, I suffer as a result of the erratic program of long hours sitting at work or crammed into the seat of an airplane. Both of these prolonged positions tend to aggravate chronic pain from old injuries in my back, neck, and knees. I have found consistent exercise to be the best way for me to manage these issues and keep myself feeling good. Unfortunately, the exercise that I enjoy comes with its own host of chronic and occasional acute injuries. Anna has helped me through these challenges by working with me on a personal, individualized, basis. She has developed solutions specific to my needs in the vein of physical therapy. This has allowed me to continue to exercise and enjoy the sports and activities that I love while also keeping my back pain free during long sit-down sessions at work.
